Meeting fees

Intake Meeting ('MIAM')

£120 per person

This meeting is  your online 1-1 intake meeting.

If you’re thinking of making an application to court, in most cases attending a MIAM first is a requirement to see if mediation could be a suitable alternative.

MIAM is short for ‘Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting’.

Before mediation can start each person must attend a MIAM separately.

This confidential meeting usually takes place online and lasts up to an hour. It’s an opportunity to talk through your situation, learn how mediation works and explore your options.

For more info on MIAM’s please see our FAQ’s

Mediation sessions

£120 per person, per hour

For example, a standard 1.5hour meeting will be £180 each, or £360 in total.

All fees are payable in advance.

These are your joint  online sessions. Mediation meetings usually last around an hour and a half but timings can be adapted to suit your needs.

After each joint session we will send you a written summary which set out the key issues discussed, the outcomes reached, and any outstanding proposals. This helps everyone understand what happens next.

If you would prefer in-person meetings, please get in touch to discuss costs and availability.

Out of hours meetings

We  offer out-of-hours meetings for an additional charge of 15%.

If you require an early morning, evening or weekend appointment please get in touch for availability.

Documentation

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

£300 total (or £150 per person)

When a settlement is reached we can prepare a detailed document outlining what has been agreed in mediation.

These documents can be shared with your solicitor which they can use to form the basis of a legally binding agreement called a Consent Order. You can then ask the Family Court to be make this Consent Order legally binding.

Open Financial Statement (OFS)

£250 total (or £125 per person)

An Open Financial Statement (OFS) can save time and legal costs later as it gives your solicitor a clear, ready-made record of your financial disclosure to work from.

An Open Financial Statement (OFS) is a formalised summary of both people’s finances prepared during a financial mediation. It provides an open record of financial disclosure that can be used by as the basis of a Consent order to make financial arrangements legally binding as part of a divorce.

We usually prepare the OFS document for a fixed fee, which includes the associated administration time. If your financial circumstances are more complex and require additional preparation time, we will let you know about any adjusted fee in advance.

Court Form

£50

If you’re planning to make an application to the court, you will normally need to evidence that you have attended a MIAM.

After we have invited the other person and assessed whether mediation can proceed, we can provide the signed court form if appropriate. The cost of this is £50.

If your MIAM was more than four months ago and you still need a certificate, you’ll need to attend another MIAM. This is a court requirement. We offer existing clients a shorter Refresher-MIAM for a reduced fee of £60.

Please note, we do not provide Legal Aid. However we will be able to help you understand if you may be eligible and signpost you to a provider where relevant.

Payment

  • Each person is responsible for their own fees and will be invoiced separately, unless you agree to pay jointly.
  • Fees are payable at the time of booking. We can only hold and confirm your appointment slot once payment has been received.
  • If you need to cancel or rearrange, our cancellation policy (below) will apply.
  • Fees for documents are payable before your mediator begins preparing them.
  • A secure payment link will be sent to you by email once your appointment is arranged.

Cancellations and re-booking

We understand that sometimes situations change and it’s necessary to cancel or rearrange an appointment. For the purposes of this policy, cancelling and rearranging are treated the same. Please give as much notice as possible.

  • More than 48 hours before the scheduled start time: your fee can be carried forward and used toward a rescheduled appointment within 3 months.
  • Between 24 and 48 hours before the scheduled start time: 50% of the session fee will be retained. The remaining 50% can be carried forward and used toward a new appointment within 3 months. The balance of the session fee will be due when rebooking.
  • Less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time: the full session fee will be retained, as the appointment time cannot usually be re-allocated to another client at short notice.

For joint mediations, if both fees have been paid but only one person attends, the absent person’s fee will be retained in line with the above timeframes, as the appointment time was reserved for you both. The attending person’s fee can be carried forward to a rebooked joint session within 3 months.

Full details are set out in our Agreement to Mediate.
